Tutorial Thursday - Shadow Box Card

Hello Crafty Friends! Its Cheryl with a tutorial on how to make a Shadow Box Card, for the base of the card, I'm using some dies that are card making staples! No need to buy a special die kit!

First let's do some prep! Using white cardstock, die cut a rectangle using the largest die from the Double Stitched Rectangle Die set. Use a foam blender and Distress Oxide inks in Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean to create a gradient background.

Next, using the diagonal blue and white striped patterned paper from the Blue Christmas Paper Pack, die cut two large rectangles using the Double Stitched Rectangle set. Use the second to the largest Double Stitched Rectangle Die to die cut a window in one of the large blue and white striped rectangles.

For the sides of the shadow box, cut two 3-3/8"x 1" rectangles, score the long sides of the rectangles at 1/4". Cut the corners of the rectangles as shown in the picture above.

Using green cardstock, die cut a grass border using the Grass Border Die and one small grass patch using the Grass Patches Die (I'm showing more, but I only ended up using one). Then die cut a hill using the Double Stitched Hill Border Die.

Using white cardstock, die cut with the following dies: Lemonade Sign Die, a Sun from the Stitched Sun and Clouds Die, two angled cuts using the Stitched Clouds Border die, the Row of Clouds Die, and the lemonade pitcher from the Lemonade Stand Die. Then die cut the Lemonade stand using kraft paper.

Use scrappy tape on each of the scored sides of the small striped rectangles. On the large blue striped rectangle, with the striped side of the paper facing down, adhere one of the small rectangles on each  end of the large rectangle to make side panels for the shadow box. Then adhere the rectangle with the blue gradient background on snowflake side of the patterned paper.

Adhere the die cut hill onto the blue gradient rectangle. Then attach the blue striped "window" rectangle by using the scrappy tape that is on the side panel. Make sure to adhere the side panel to the back side of the "window" rectangle. Next, adhere the grass border to the backside of the "window" rectangle. Trim off any excess green cardstock.

Stamp the mouse drinking lemonade and the mouse holding a lemonade sign from the Squeeze the Day Clear Stamp on white cardstock and color with your choice of coloring medium.  Then fussy cut the stamped images.

Color the sun, lemonade sign, lemonade pitcher, and clouds with your choice of coloring medium. Carefully trim off two small clouds from the Row of Clouds die cut and color all of the cloud die cuts with your choice of coloring medium. Adhere the two Stitched Cloud Borders on the top of the card as shown in the picture above.

Adhere the rest of the components to the card as shown above. Once all the elements of the card have been put together, press the card flat as shown in the picture above, then use the scrappy tape on the left side panel to a finish the shadow box!

It's important to press the card down flat before attaching the side panel. This will allow you to flatten the card to be able to put it in an envelope!
