Tutorial Thursday- Beautiful Life Marci 3D Layered Tag

Hello Everyone! Mindy here with you today to show you how to create a 3D layered tag using the Gorgeous Beautiful Life Marci and coordinating dies from La-La Land Crafts.

Here is what you will need...

Plus...

Distress Oxide Ink in Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberries, Vintage Photo, and Mustard Seed.
White Gel Pen
Various Ribbons
Watercolor Paper
Gold Cardstock
3 Coordinating 6"x6" Pattern Cardstock
Plain White Cardstock
Black Cardstock
Foam Tape
Fine Tip Glue
8mm ball stylus
4mm ball stylus
flower shaping mat or mouse pad

Step-by-Step:

Step 1: First die cut 7-10 various sized cherry blossoms from plain white cardstock using the Cherry Blossom Flowers Die.

Step 2: Next Stamp Beautiful Life Marci onto the 3 coordinating pattern cardstock pieces, and then stamp her onto plain white cardstock for Copic coloring. Make sure to also stamp the fan and hair flowers a second time onto the white cardstock piece so that we can layer them later.

Step 3: After stamping the images, you will then fussy cut the pieces shown below from the matching pattern papers, you will also fussy cut out the extra hair flowers and fan that you stamped onto the white cardstock. Make sure to not cut into the full image stamped onto white Copic safe cardstock, this is going to be the base that we are going to color on, and add all of the other paper piecing layers.

Step 4: Next color Marci's skin, hair, extra fan, and extra hair flowers with the following Copic colors as shown below.

Copic Markers:
Skin: E04, E11, E21, E00, E000, E0000, RV21, RV000
Hair: 100, C7, C5, C3, C1
Hair Flowers: RV04, RV21, RV10, RV000, R59, R27, R22
Fan: C3, C1, RV04, RV21, RV000

Step 5:  After coloring Marci glue on the base Floral Kimono pattern paper and the top crown headpiece base sections. Then using the following Copics: C5, C3, and C1 add shading to the paper pieced sections as shown below.

Step 6: Next add all of the gray pattern pieced sections onto their coordinating spots as seen below. I then added shading to the gray sections with the following Copic: C5, C3, C1.

Step 7: After that add the blue paper pieced sections as shown below. The blue sections were shaded with the following Copics: B05, B12, B00.

Step 8: To finish Marci I attached the fan, obi, hair flowers, and alternating crown pieces with foam tape to add some extra dimension and interest. I then fussy cut her out.

Step 9: To create the 3d cherry blossoms first I blended Distress Oxide Ink in Picked Raspberries onto only the centers of each die cut flower.

Step 10: Next I flipped the flowers over and used the 8mm ball stylus on a flower shaping mat to press down into the centers of each flower until the petals curled inward.

Step 11: I then flipped the flowers back over to the front side and used the 4mm ball stylus on the flower shaping mat to press the very center of each flower in.

Step 12: To finish the cherry blossoms I colored the very centers of each flower with the following Copics: R27, R59. I then added a few dots to represent stamen in the centers of each flower with a white gel pen as seen below.

Step 13: To create the layered tag you will need to cut the following:

2 Cherry Blossom fans cut from pink pattern paper
1 Art Deco Border cut from black cardstock
1 Cherry Blossom Border cut from black cardstock
1 Stitched Tags topper cut from black cardstock
1 Spring Flourish cut from black cardstock
2 Spring Branches cut from chipboard
1 Temple cut from black cardstock
1 largest Nested Frames die cut from gold cardstock
1 medium Nested Frames die cut from white cardstock
1 rectangle cut from blue pattern cardstock at: 3 3/4" wide x 2 1/4" high
2 watercolor paper base tags cut at: 3 3/4" wide x 6 3/4" high (cut tag side slants from 1" at each top edge to 1" on the side, then hole punch top center 1/2" down.)
1 cardstock bottom base tag cut at: 4" wide x 7" high (cut tag side slants from 1" at each top edge to 1" on the side, then hole punch top center 1/2" down.)

Step 14: Use Distress Oxide inks to blend onto the tag bases and Nested Frame as follows:
Chipboard Tag Base: Vintage Photo
Watercolor Tags: Mustard Seed and Vintage Photo
Nested Frame: Salty Ocean and Picked Rasberries

Step 15: Adhere the watercolor tag bases to the front and back of the chipboard tag. Then add the tag topper and tie off with various ribbons.

Step 16: Add the top distressed Nested Frame to the bottom gold Nested Frame with foam tape for some added dimension. Do the same thing with attaching the sentiment to the pattern paper backing as shown below.

Step 17: Layer and attach the die cuts into the same positions as the photo below.

Step 18: Next add the Nested Frames layer with foam tape to the center of the tag. After that glue on the Temple to the bottom left side of the Nested Frame.

Step 19: To finish add Marci with foam tape to the bottom right edge of the tag, and then glue the cherry blossoms to the Spring Branches and the bottom of the Temple.
