Tutorial Thursday - Get Well box

Hi!
Tamara with you today. I'm sharing a rather simple idea how to make a box that can be used for different occasions all you have to do is change the front. I decided to use Nurse Marci (again) and make a Get Well box. It's big enough to add some Get Well prezzies inside.
So, let's get started.

What you need:
white cardstock
design paper
twine

scissors
scoring board
scor tape
liquid glue

la-la land crafts items you need:

Step 1:
Cut two pieces of white cardstock:
7 1/8 x 7 5/8"
9 x 9.5"

Take your scoring board and your two white rectangles (one is smaller than another) and make score lines on the smaller one first. Score 1" from all four sides.
Then take the bigger rectangle and make score lines 2" from all for sides. We now have the base for the box!

Step 2:
Cut both rectangles like on the picture below. You get 4 small flaps on each rectangle. Also cut out the little triangles on the flaps, so they will close nicely.

Then take your white cardstock and cut 8 rectangles (we'll use these to mat design paper):
2x  5.5 x 7/8"
2x  5 x 7/8"
2x  5 3/8 x 1 7/8"
2x  4 7/8 x 1 7/8"

Then take your design paper and cut another 8 rectangles, each is 1/8 smaller:
2x  5 3/4 x 6/8"
2x  4 7/8 x 6/8"
2x  5 2/8 x 1 6/8"
2x  4 6/8 x 1 6/8"

Mat them all on the sides of the bases we did in step 1.

Take your double sided tape and glue design paper on the mat and then on the base.

Step 3:
Make folds. Apply adhesive on all four flaps and glue them together so we get two parts of the box, bottom and the lid.

Step 4:
Take your white cardstock and cut 4 rectangles:
2x  5.5 x 6"
2x  5 3/8 x 5 7/8"

Then take your design paper and cut another two rectangles:
2x  5 2/8 x 5 6/8"

Mat together rectanges from design paper with the smaller white rectangles.

Then adhere them to the 5.5 x 6" rectangles. You get two quite sturdy layers. These two are the bottom and the top of the box.

Step 5:
Apply adhesive to the bottom side of both box bases.

Carefully put the box base to the center of the sturdy bottom/top we made in previous step. Be careful that you adhere the bottom of the box on the bottom layer so that the design paper faces UP!!!

When you adhere the lid you have to be careful that the design paper side of the sturdy top is facing UP!!! (this means you're adhereing to the white opposite side of the sturdy top) because we're going to decorate it later.

This is how the lid should look like from the side.

Step 6:
Stamp images and use your prefered colouring meddium to colour them in. Then take your scissors and fussy cut the images.
Stamp your sentiment (I chose "Get well soon") on a white piece of paper and cut it out in a shape of a rectangle.

Step 7:
Use your die cutting machine and la-la land crafts dies and cut:
2x  Bandaid Die
1x  Hello Tag
8x  Small Scallops Border
1x  Pierced Scalloped Circles
1x  Double Stitched Circles
1x  Stitched Nested Hearts

Glue pierced Scalloped circle to the stitched circle, then adhere the top of the bandaid to the bottom. Adhere together the tag and add some white twine. Take the small stitched heart and add some foam tape. Adhere it on the rectangle with the sentiment.

Take your white cardstock and cut a rectangle 5 7/8 x 4" and design paper and cut another rectangle 5 6/8 x 3 7/8". Mat them together.

Step 8:
First decorate the front. I used foam tape on all my fussy cut images. You can see I added Small Scallops border die cuts behind the rectangle we cut in the previous step.

I also added the same borders all arround the lid of the box. One single die cut is too short for the whole lenght of the box so you have to combine two on the longer sides.

That's all from me today! I hope you like my "Get Well" box?! :)
Hugs, t.
