TUTORIAL THURSDAY ~PAPER PIECING with Rubber Stamps~

~ Paper Piecing with Rubber Stamps ~

Hi there, it's Tracey from Team Monday here. Following on from last week's tutorial from Debbie P on digital paper piecing, I am going to show you how I paper piece the old-fashioned way using rubber stamps and patterned papers.

~STEP 1~

Choose your La-La Land Crafts rubber stamp and a selection of coordinating patterned papers. 6x6 " paper pads are ideal for this as the patterns are usually printed smaller.

Stamp your image onto white cardstock, and then stamp the sections of the image that you would like to paperpiece onto the patterned cardstock.

~STEP 2~

Color in the parts of your image that aren't going to be paper pieced.

COPICS

Skin: E0000, E000, E00, E21, R30
Lips:  R32
Hair:  C2, C4, C6, C8, C10

~STEP 3~

Carefully cut out the pieces you have stamped onto patterned paper using very fine-tipped scissors.

At this point I realised that it would be too difficult to cut around her hand on her floral jacket, so decided to leave it and paper-piece it later.

~STEP 4~

Adhere the patterned paper pieces onto the colored base image.I used a combination of double-sided tape and liquid glue.

~STEP 5~

Restamp just Marci's hand onto white cardstock and color as before.

Cut out carefully.

~STEP 6~

Adhere hand over jacket.

Add shading to clothing and lantern to give a more three-dimensional look.
I used Copic colors R30 and W2.

~STEP 7~

Cut out Marci leaving a fine white border around her.

Paper-piece the small hanging lanterns onto the blue background paper and stamp the sentiment included in the set.

Add some die cuts:

Decorative corner die set cut from gold glitter card stock.
Pretty poinsettia die  cut from green felt
Rolled rose small and medium die  cut from orange felt
Stitched scallops border die cut from patterned paper.

And there you have your finished card.

Paper-piecing is particularly good if you are in a rush, as you only need to color skin and hair.

It's also a good technique if you are just starting out with copics, as you only need colors for skin and hair and can paper-piece the rest.

I hope you enjoyed my first ever tutorial for La-La Land crafts, and hopefully I have inspired you to give it a try yourself. We would love to see your creations.
