La-La Land Crafts 14 Days of Christmas - Day 12

Hello everyone! Welcome to La-La Land Crafts 14 Days of Christmas - Day 12!

Tamara here with you today to share a tutorial with you!

Today's tutorial is:  MANNER VAFERS HOLDER

Everyone in our family loves Manner wafers, especially vanilla and haselnut flavored. These wafers originaly come from Austria but as far as I know they are sold all over the world. If you don't have them you can easily replace them with a little handmade notebook or a chocolate.

Score at (short side): 0.5", 1 1/4", 5 1/4", 6"
~ now for the tutorial you have been waiting for ~

Take craft cardstock and cut it to size
10 7/8" x 6 3/8". Score on the long side at 2.5", 3 1/4", 6 3/4", 7.5" and on the short side at 0.5", 1 1/4", 5 1/4", 6".

Cut it like on my picture. You are making flaps for closing the little box.

Cut rectangles from white cardstock:
(2x) 5/8" x 3 3/8"
(4x) 3 7/8" x 5/8"
(1x) 3 7/8" x 2 3/8"
(4x) 3 7/8" x 3 3/8"

Cut rectangles from design paper:
(2x) 2/4" x 3 1/4"
(4x) 3 3/4" x 1/2"
(1x) 3 3/4" x 2 1/4"
(4x) 3 3/4" x 3 1/4"

Mat and glue them together.

Stamp one of the bears from Winter Bears clear stamp set and colour it up. After colouring fussy cut the image.

Make die cuts. I cut ski lodge but later decided not to use is.

Make folds. Use corner chomper to cut off the corners on the 3.5" x 4" part (top).

Take the piece that covers this part and turn it around. At the back (on the side with cut edges) mark a center and glue there a small folded piece of paper or a bit of a folded ribbon. This will help up open up a box later.

Now we have the front finished and we're going to do the closing part, using magnets. I use small and very thin magnets. One magnet will be placed behind the design paper on the back of the piece we just finished and the other one will be placed on the 2.5" x 4" piece. Make sure to glue down the magnets, so they don't move around.

Once you glue it down you cover it with design paper and glue it to the base. You do the same with the other piece. Make sure the magnets are lined up, so they close one on one. When you have your magnets in place and covered up with design paper you can glue down all the little rectangles.

You can decorate the inside as you please. I added skis and a sentiment.

Add liquid glue to all flaps and close them together. Make sure you don't add glue on the top of the long flaps, because they are left seen.

Now it's time to decorate the front. I cut a piece of 4" wide white cardstock and then cut the top with the Ski Lift Die.

I added another small sentiment on the front.

Now all you have to do is to add wafers. That's it from me. :)

  1. This is a very cute box. I've never heard of these wafers, but this box looks fun to make.
