Tutorial Thursday- Halloween Critters Treat Bags

Hello Everyone! Mindy here with you today to show you how to create these super Adorable Halloween Treat Bags just in time for Halloween using the Super Cute Halloween Critters, and Halloween dies from La-La Land Crafts.

Here is what you will need...

Plus...

Score Board
Bone Folder
Fine Mist Spray Bottle
Blending Sponges
Foam Tape
Double Sided Tape
Precision Tip Glue
Distress Inks in: Hickory Smoke, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet, and Spiced Marmalade
White, Black, and Orange Cardstock
Patterned Papers from the September 2017 Card/ Project Kit

Step-by-Step:

Step 1: First cut treat bag base sections to the following measurements:

Plain cardstock in either black or orange- 6"h x 5"w (cut 2 per bag)

On the 5"wide side score at: 3"and 4 1/2", then score at 3 3/4" only scoring 2/3 the way down as illustrated below.

On the 6" high side score at: 1 1/2"
Step 2: Trim the shaded sections as illustrated above from each treat bag base to create your bag tabs. Then use a bone folder to fold all the score lines. Next use a scoring tool to connect your 2/3 section score line to each bottom corner as illustrated in green in the diagram below.

Step 3: After that cut your pattern paper accent panels (cut 2 per treat bag) at 4 1/4" h x 2 3/4" w illustrated in the diagram below. For my treat bags I used the Spiderweb and Ghost pattern papers from the September 2017 Card/ Project kit.
Step 4: Cut 2 Pumpkin Borders with the Pumpkins Border Die in the same color cardstock as your treat bag base.

Step 5: Trim off the far left pumpkin from the Pumpkins Border and glue the border onto the top of each treat bag base section as illustrated below.

Step 6: Glue both of the bottom panel sections together and then add double sided tape to the remaining tabs as shown below. Fold in the tabs and adhere to finish assembling the treat bag base.

Step 7: Using the medium Postage Stamp die cut 2 per treat bag. The first from plain white cardstock and the second from black cardstock. Then position the Haunted Hill Die over the black postage stamp die cut,  secure it with washi tape, and then run it through your die cut machine.

Step 8: Next die cut 2 Ghosts (2 per treat bag) from plain white cardstock with the Ghosts die. You should now have your treat bag bases assembled and your dies cut just like the photo below.

Step 9: On the two plain white postage stamp die cuts blend distress inks in the same colors and order as shown in the photo below to create your Halloween background skies. Once you are done blending the colors together, use a fine misting spray bottle to lightly mist over the inks to create some variety and texture.

Distress Inks used:
Blue Tone Sky- Hickory Smoke, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon
Purple Orange Sky- Wilted Violet, Spiced Marmalade

Step 10: Decorate the treat bags with the die cuts and mats as shown below.

Step 11: I then stamped the Adorable Halloween Critters onto 110 lb plain white card stock and colored them in with Copic markers. Once I was done coloring them, I fussy cut them out and attached them to my treat bags with foam tape.

Copic markers used:
Dog in Pumpkin Costume: E35, E31, E41, E0000, 0, YR07, YR04, R02, G17, YG09, YG06, C5, C3, C1, RV21, RV000
Franken Bear: YR07, YR04, R02, 0, G17, YG09, YG06, YG11, 100, C5, C3, C1, E37, E35, E43, E41, Y00, RV21, RV000
