Today, I'm going to show you how to make a 'SHAKER FRAME' for your cards.
SUPPLIES:
- white cardstock, craft cardstock
- cutting dies: scalloped oval, classic ovals of 3 sizes (the largest matching the
scalloped oval, middle one and a smaller one)
- gelatin sheet (option: acetate sheet)
- fine glitter (beads, glass glitter, chunky powder, mica flakes, ….)
- 3mm ribbon
- glue
- 3D mounting squares or tape
- stamps – swirls, sentiments or some other motifs,….
STEP 1:
Cut a classic oval and the matching scalloped
oval.
This is going to be the base for your shaker window.

STEP 2:
Stamp a sentiment or some motif on the white oval.
I have also stamped some swirls and postage stamps and added some chunky embossing powder around the edges.

Glue classic and scalloped circles together.
STEP 3:
Cut another scalloped circle and then cut a frame in it using the the smallest of your 3 oval dies.
STEP 4:
Cut an oval from the gelatin sheet
(or acetate sheet) using the middle sized oval.
STEP 5:
Glue the gelatin oval to the back of
your scalloped frame.
Make sure the glue is applied only to the very edges.
Let dry.

STEP 6:
Glue 3D foams squares around the
edges of your base.
Make sure they are attached closely together so that
there’s no space for the glitter to escape.
I didn’t have any 3D mounting foam, so I cut out several ovals and glued them together as you can see at the bottom of the image. Then I glued the ovals to the base.

STEP 7:
Glue a 3mm ribbon around your base to hide the 3D mounting foam (or the cut
out ovals in my case). You can also glue some bead string or leave it as such without any ribbon/bead string.
STEP 8:
Carefully sprinkle some glitter (or small pearls, beads, chunky powder, etc.over the sentiment.
If you cut from acetate sheet, gently tap over your acetate oval with a antistatic embossing pad ('embossing buddy') first. You need to do this to prevent the fine glitter from clinging to the back of the window due to static electricity.
STEP 9:
Apply glue to the back of the
gelatin window and carefully glue the gelatin window to the base.
Make sure the glue is applied only to the very
edges and the scallops match the base.
Let dry.
STEP 10:
Glue your shaker frame to your card
and embellish to your liking.
