Tutorial Thursday - Accordion Mini Album

Hello everybody!

It's Alexandra here sharing a process of creating an accordion mini album with the box.

I've made this album some time ago and now I will give you all the necessary measurements so that you can create one by yourself, including the links to the videos showing how to cover the chipboard parts of the album with the padding and the fabric, before gluing in the accordion mechanism, as well as the measurements for creating the box.

So here we go!!!

To start, you’ll need 2 pc of chipboard measuring 6.5” X 4 3/8”.

Cover them with padding material, attaching the material to the chipboard with scortape of your choice.

Cut 2 pc of fabric for the covers, bearing in mind that the fabric should be about 1.5” larger than the covers from each of the 4 sides.

To glue the fabric to the covers, I used an UHU glue stick.

Once all of the corners are folded and glued down, you can sew your covers.

At this stage, you can already add the rest of the embellishments to the cover, including brads.

For the inside pages *for the accordion part itself* you will need 7 pc of cardstock measuring 6 3/4" X 4 1/4" *each scored at 6 3/8” on the long side* + 1 pc measuring 6 3/8” X 4 1/4".

For the box you’ll need two pieces of cardstock, measuring:

11 3/4" X 9.5” *for the bottom part*

10 3/8” X 8 1/8” *For the lid*

The first one should be scored on the 11 3/4" side as follows:

1 1/8” >> 2 3/8” >> 9 3/8” >> 10 5/8”

And on the 9.5” side as follows:

1 1/8” >> 2 3/8” >> 7 1/8” >> 8 3/8”

The second one should be scored on the 10 3/8" side as follows:

3/4" >> 1 5/8” >> 8 3/4" >> 9 5/8”

And on the 8 1/8” side as follows:

3/4" >> 1 5/8” >> 6.5” >> 7 3/8”

After assembling the box, reinforce the bottom and the lid with additional cardstock.

To glue the accordion part to the covers, I used the Beacon 3-in-1 glue.
